Youth Development

Presently, the primary avenue for youth development programming in Lake County revolves around the 4-H initiative. This program operates from the Chaffee County office. For further details, inquiries can be directed by email to Chaffee County Extension or 719-205-9647.

4-H forms a vibrant community of young individuals spanning across Lake County, dedicated to acquiring essential skills in leadership, citizenship, and life. It's a realm of enjoyment, learning, exploration, and revelation. Within the 4-H framework, youths forge new friendships, cultivate novel talents, evolve into leaders, and actively shape their local communities. A 10-year study between 4H and Tufts University found that 4-Her's are four times more likely to give back to their communities, two times more likely to make healthy choices, and two times more likely to participate in STEM activities.
